This was my first South by Southwest<\/a> experience. I was fortunate enough to shoot for my long time friends over at the Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau<\/a>.\u00a0 Wow, what a fun and exhausting time.\u00a0 I’ll spare you what would undoubtedly be a very poorly written narrative and just stick with what I know, photos.\u00a0 So, here are a few standouts from my 4 days at SXSW:<\/p>\n

St. Vincent<\/a> at the Central Presbyterian Church<\/a>. Not my favorite venue but St. Vincent was lovely.<\/p>\n

Heartless Bastards<\/a> at Stubbs<\/a>. The back lighting was killing me but I was able to get some decent shots.<\/p>\n

\"Erika<\/a><\/p>\n

An Horse<\/a>, or to be more precise Kate Cooper’s feet, at Friends Bar<\/a>. The lighting in the venue was crap so I was trying to be a little creative. Plus, I have a thing about shooting feet, pedals, and\/or set lists.<\/p>\n

3oh!3<\/a> at Stubbs<\/a>. These guys are from Boulder Colorado…so I had to check ’em out. They had crazy energy.<\/p>\n

Tori Amos<\/a> at La Zona Rosa<\/a>…swoon. We were only allowed to shoot one song and the photo pit was jam packed, no pressure. I felt a little bad about leaning all over the photographer in front of me to get this shot, but what are you gonna do.<\/p>\n

\nShiny Toy Guns<\/a>, SXSW Live on Direct TV. Did you see me?<\/p>\n

Echo and the Bunnymen<\/a>, SXSW Live on Direct TV. Amazing how music can transport you back in time. I was flooded with memories from my teen years.<\/p>\n

White Lies<\/a> at Stubbs<\/a>, Awesome! I love these guys. They remind me so much of the music I discovered in my early teens, Joy Division<\/a>, The Sisters of Mercy<\/a>, Early Depeche Mode<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Harry<\/a> \"Charles<\/a><\/p>\n

Silversun Pickups<\/a> at Antone’s<\/a>. The place was packed. I tried to fight my way up to the front but I’m not a very pushy person so it was a loosing battle. Instead I sweet talked my way up to the production balcony:<\/p>\n

Chris Guanlao, the drummer for Silversun Pickups<\/a>, is INSANE (in a completely fantastic way). He reminded my of Animal from Sesame Street.<\/p>\n

Great job to all the behind the scenes stage, sound and lighting crews!<\/p>\n

Stubbs<\/a>, my favorite venue at SXSW:<\/p>\n
